Hey you,

My name is Angela – an Illustrator and Blogger who loves building websites and growing them from scratch.

I draw, illustrate, design websites, make comics, build websites and write.

I have many arms in real life, that’s how I get everything done.

I’ve helped loads of bakers, photographers, book bloggers, cooks get from $0 a month to a full-time income with my posts/coaching.

After the awful Google updates (that decimated traffic for most bloggers), I started looking into Pinterest.

I even started a new website and it’s been doing amazingly well!

I’m doing a Pinterest Series where I discuss a few strategies weekly.

In this post, I’ll answer the question I get asked frequently: How many times a URL can be shared on Pinterest in a day without being marked as spam?

This post may include affiliate links, which means clicking on them might result in me making a commission at no extra cost to you. This allows me to run this blog ad-free and make content accessible for you for free. I also use this to pamper my beloved pups.

First of all, this is very important information and if you don’t know this, you can get banned.

The idea of publishing a blog post and then designing 20, 30, or even 50 unique pins for it sounds like a dream come true for driving traffic to your blog.

After all, more pins = more exposure.

However, many bloggers are worried that sharing too many pins for one URL could trigger penalties from Pinterest’s algorithm and they could be marked as spam.

Some bloggers are able to pin multiple pins a day from one URL and not get banned, how?

The answer isn’t luck, sadly.

There’s a little more to it than that.

Let me explain.

If your blog posts are getting a lot of saves, you can pin more pins from that URL.

This depends on the type of content you are creating and promoting.

There are 2 types of content:

  1. Educational
  2. Inspirational

1. Educational Content

Let’s say, you’ve written a post on “How to take care of a Russian Blue Cat.” It covers a lot of things like what to feed the cat, its overall behavior, and maintaining the cat.

You finish writing the post and you create a few pins with text overlay.

If someone visits your post and loves it, they’re likely to save only 1 pin to the board.

Because they just need the solution – and they only need 1 pin.

So, your average save rate for the post becomes 1 or less.

This means you can’t post as many pins from these types of URLs.

2. Inspirational Content

However, if you’ve written a post on short curly hairstyle ideas and included images of 30 different women sporting all sorts of hairstyles – this becomes an inspirational post.

Now, even if you don’t create a pin and a Pinterest user visits your blog, chances are they might individually pin 5-10 (or maybe more) images to their Pinterest board from your website.

So, your average save rate for the post is very, very high!

This means you can pin more pins for Inspirational content (from the same URL) on 1 day compared to Educational content.

How many pins can you pin from 1 URL for Educational Content?

If you’ve finished writing an educational post, you can make a max of 5-10 pins for the post.

But you cannot pin them all on one day.

You have to spread them out.

I suggest pinning 2 on Monday, another 3 on Friday, and the rest – the next week.

Spread them out and alternate them with other pins to different URLs/Blog posts – this way it doesn’t look like you’re spamming.

And vary the design for all the pins – this will ensure that you get more impressions for the same post.

How many pins can you pin from 1 URL for Inspirational Content?

If you’ve finished writing an inspirational post, you can make some collage pins for your post.

Here’s a collage pin I made for my hair blog (it has only 6 followers) and it took off.

After the collage pins, I also pin the individual photos of different haircuts to my account.

How do I do this?: I go to my website, open the post, and pin the images to my board from the website directly using the “Pin It” button.

Because it’s a relatively new Pinterest account, I don’t exceed 10 pins a day.

You have to spread them out.

But if you have an established account, you can easily pin 20-30 images from that post to your account.

That’s the difference.

So posts that showcase home decor ideas, makeup looks, recipe ideas, etc. – you can pin multiple images from a single URL in one day.

You can’t do that with educational posts.

It all comes down to the save rate of each individual URL.

I hope this answers your question about pinning and frequency regarding the same URL. If you have any questions leave a comment below and I’ll answer right away!
